A Magical Festive Day Out In Plymouth – with Stagecoach
27th October 2026Festive gatherings and a season to remember at Boringdon Hall Hotel
There is a moment when Christmas arrives at Boringdon Hall: its famed red bow adorns the manor and the warmth within invites you to step inside. Just 20 minutes from Plymouth, this 16th-century Elizabethan manor house hotel becomes the House of Christmas, a place to gather with loved ones and let the season unfold in surroundings rich with history. While away the hours by the fire with a cocktail in hand after a wintry walk on nearby Dartmoor or escape the chill in the award-winning Gaia Spa. Stay for the afternoon, settle in for the evening, or make the manor your home for a five-star getaway. It feels a world away from the everyday, even for those escaping close to home.
Experience the magic
Beneath the soaring ceiling of the Great Hall, with the Christmas tree aglow and the manor dressed for the season, Festive Afternoon Tea offers a lovely excuse to catch up as Christmas draws near. Seasonal savouries, traditional cream tea and delicate patisserie are served daily from 1-4pm, beginning 13th November.
For a magical family day in December, Festive Afternoon Tea with Father Christmas brings moments of wonder as he visits each table with a special gift for every child. As anticipation of the big day grows, Christmas Eve Afternoon Tea on 24th December offers a quiet pause together.
During the lead-up to Christmas, spend a few peaceful hours making something special at a festive workshop. Create your own adornment at a Christmas wreath-making workshop with local florist Hannah Burnett, working with an array of foliage over mince pies and mulled wine. At Christmas calligraphy workshops, learn the art of beautiful lettering, perfect for adding a personal touch to home décor and gifts.
Opulent evenings at the manor
Boringdon Hall plays host to glittering evenings when night draws in. At festive murder mystery nights, step back in time to the turn of the century and piece the clues together when a high society Christmas dinner takes a dark turn.
On select dates in November and December, Christmas Party Nights offer a sparkling evening to celebrate with friends, family and colleagues. Raise a glass with a welcome drink in the Great Hall, reminisce on the year over a three-course festive dinner and see out the night with DJ entertainment and dancing.
For a more intimate celebration, Àclèaf brings a sense of occasion to the table. Spend unforgettable evenings at Boringdon Hall’s MICHELIN-Starred restaurant and mark the season in style, whether it’s a dinner for two or a private dining experience with loved ones in the elegant oak room.
Celebrate in timeless luxury
For those who would rather savour Christmas than organise every detail, Boringdon Hall’s three- and four-night all-inclusive Christmas Breaks make space for what matters: time together. Dining, drinks and entertainment are all taken care of, including a decadent Christmas Day lunch, allowing you to simply relax and enjoy the festivities. Grand surroundings may set the scene, but the warm welcome makes it feel like a home from home.
Between 27th and 30th December, Twixmas brings a welcome change of pace. Retreat to the manor for slow mornings and time to unwind. A swim, a soothing treatment or a quiet hour in the warmth of Gaia Spa offers a gentle pause before the celebrations begin again.
A Champagne reception and live jazz in the Great Hall begin New Year’s Eve at Boringdon Hall. Choose a four-course dinner in Mayflower Brasserie or a six-course tasting experience in MICHELIN-Starred Àclèaf, then toast the countdown and dance into the early hours with live music. Make a night of it on a New Year Break, with spa time and New Year’s Day brunch for a relaxing start to 2027.
Whether you visit for afternoon tea, exquisite dining, or several days away, the House of Christmas at Boringdon Hall is an invitation to share the season somewhere truly special.
