Cheque presentation following a golf day

The Lions Club of Plymouth are part of the ‘International Association of Lions Clubs’ and as such serve 205 countries in regions of the world suffering from natural disasters, to providing assistance in hospitals, schools and providing help to people in many ways.

For example our national programme for the collection of unwanted eye glasses, grading and distribution to third-world countries is of immense value to those who do not have the facilities that are available to ourselves.

Just as important to us are the local charities and individual charitable cases that we are able to support within our own community of Plymouth, the South Hams and West Devon.

This year’s scheduled fundraising events include;- Swimarathon, Dartmoor Walk, Charity Golf Days, Sponsored Knitting, Stalls at Fairs, Carnivals, Festivals, and Fetes, plus the Christmas Collections at many local supermarkets.

Some of the local charities benefited in the past year;- Children’s Hospice SW, Primrose Breast Cancer Care Unit, Chestnut Prostate Cancer Derriford, Plymouth Women & Children’s Refuge, Regular Soup-run forays with Refreshment & Clothing for the Homeless, plus Numerous Individual requirements, to name but a few.

Should you feel you are interested in becoming a member to help us in serving your local community, by helping to provide much needed assistance at our fund raising events which benefit mainly local charities and individuals, we would welcome your help.

We are a well-structured organisation of mixed gender where age is no barrier and meet on a regular monthly basis to discuss and agree how best our resources can be mustered and used in order to achieve our aims. We also have a number of various social events with friends and sometimes with other neighbouring Lions clubs.

In this our Centenary Year of serving the local community, to include, national and international disasters, we would ask you to consider becoming Lionhearted and join the Lions, you will enjoy the rich feeling of assisting those in need of your help.

We would welcome your ideas and innovative thinking of how to achieve our aim to better serve our local community.

Should you be sufficiently interested, please contact Lion Lionel Marsh: Membership Chairman on the details below-
