The OM Team attend the Turtle Bay Launch Party!

On Sunday 22nd October, Turtle Bay threw open the doors of their Plymouth restaurant, following an exclusive VIP party that kicked things off in style! The OM Team were lucky enough to get an invite, and the night did not disappoint! 

Plymouth’s movers and shakers turned out in force on Thursday evening, to celebrate Turtle Bay’s arrival in the city. Hundreds of revellers enjoyed rum, reggae and jerk in abundance, while partying the night away, Caribbean style, to the sensational live sounds of reggae legends Troy Ellis and Laid Blak.

Party-goers represented a diverse range of the city’s communities and neighbourhoods – from sailors to students! There was attendance from the worlds of fashion, forces, media, maritime, beauty, sport, law, digital, leisure, education and many more.

Guests enjoyed sampling the wide range of Turtle Bay’s famous rum cocktails and lavish servings of delicious Caribbean soul food. There was even a special Plymouth version of
their Bay Bramble cocktail created for the occasion! Rum was replaced by one of the city’s most famous exports – Plymouth Gin!

Welcoming and sociable, Turtle Bay on St Andrew’s Cross has its own bespoke design, making it unique to Plymouth. The restaurant has drawn on inspiration from the site’s previous incarnation as a post office – but Caribbean style… The very special, 230 seat, Plymouth restaurant features Caribbean colour schemes and bespoke wall murals, as well as the restaurant’s trademark use of reclaimed materials. Customers can expect to see lights hanging from beer crates, reclaimed wood and checkerplate; and reclaimed speakers… all making up one totally unique restaurant!

The design has also been influenced by the town’s maritime heritage – something that is a natural fit with a restaurant that’s inspired by the island life and adventuring. England’s ‘Ocean City’ will be celebrated with plenty of light, bright, green spaces and fabulous outdoor dining too.

From opening, they will be serving up food and cocktails inspired by the blissful experiences of the Caribbean, all to a fine-tuned reggae soundtrack. Turtle Bay’s signature dishes include their famous jerk chicken and curry goat, but there’s plenty for all palates to choose from including a new burger menu, salad selection and a great collection of dishes for vegetarians, vegans and gluten free diners. The zesty Caribbean dishes are all prepared in the restaurant’s vibrant, tiled, open “street kitchen”.

Over 40 Rums will be available, served from the stunning central island, “beach shack” bar. This includes a diverse range of rum flavours and styles from across the Caribbean – including white, dark, spiced and overproof – all used to create a gorgeous array of classic cocktails with a Turtle Bay twist, as well as a magnificent mix of signature cocktails too.

Visitors to the new Plymouth restaurant will enjoy Turtle Bay’s famous Happy Hour, which lasts from 11.30am – 7pm and then starts up again at 10pm! This makes it the happiest
happy hour in town with ALL of their cocktails available at 241 during that time – it’s a must for cocktail lovers and rum enthusiasts all week long.

The 230-seat restaurant is open from Sunday 22nd October from 11.30am – 11:30pm from Sunday – Wednesday and is open till 00:30 on Thursdays and 1:30am on Fridays and Saturdays.
