We think great food tastes even better when you enjoy it with other people, so you will share your table with fellow diners for a feast of the freshest seasonal produce from our fields. Uniquely, there is just one sitting and the whole restaurant is served together at the same time.
For lunch we start things off with a seasonal salad followed by creative vegetable side dishes and one meat dish served to the table for you to pass around and share.
Portions are generous and there’ll be plenty to go round. When it comes to pudding, we’ll invite you up to the kitchen to choose from a wickedly tempting selection. Supper is a slightly more lavish affair with four vegetable anti-pasti dishes to start your evening.
James Dodd is the Head Chef at Riverford Field Kitchen. His role is to ensure that, only only does the restaurant continue to offer a superb three-course set menu twice a day where Riverford veg are the star of the show, but also to showcase the breath of cooking that can be achieved from the current seasonal vegetable delivery box.
Our good friends over at the Riverford Farm in Devon kindly delivered to us one of their award-winning, jam-packed vegetarian recipe boxes for us to review.
In the box we received Autumn’s seasonal veg which included the likes of kale, fennel, squash, leek and cauliflower, alongside 3 recipe cards to make 3 delicious meals: cauliflower & cocounut laska, penne pasta with a mix of vegetables, and stuffed squashes.
Knowing that all ingredients are 100% organic and are grown, made, handpicked and sold by the experts at Riverford, plus their achievement of Zero Landfill Status in 2013, gave us a clear conscience and made the food extra tasty.
OM’s account manager Emma, who is a vegan personal trainer and a mighty good cook, made two of the recipes and brought them into work for us to try.
First, we tried the penne pasta with fennel, onions, chopped tomatos, lemon zest and fine breadcrumbs. The mixture of flavours and textures combined perfectly to form a mouth-watering, hearty meal that is suitable for both lunch and dinner.
Second of all we tried the cauliflower and coconut laska with kale and rice noodles. This unique dish is one that we will all certainly be trying again!
The recipes were delicious and very easy to follow as every ingredient needed is available in the box – everything down to the seasoning, the stock cube, the sauce and the staples.
With the delivery and affordable price of all the boxes clarified to us that eating healthily was easy, reasonably priced and delicious. Riverford says “tasty results are guaranteed”… and we can certainly say that we agree! 5/5
